Senior Associate, Construction Delay Analysis

About the role

Secretariat, a firm known for handling high-stakes legal, risk and regulatory matters, is hiring a Senior Associate for its Construction Delay team. The team has decades of experience as engineers, project managers, architects, schedulers and accountants, and is trusted for sophisticated delay analysis on major projects worldwide, including buildings, infrastructure, power and utilities and oil and gas works.

Key responsibilities

• Research and fact-finding
• Review technical and non-technical documentation such as construction schedules, engineering drawings, reports, correspondence and weather data
• Analyse large datasets to identify trends, anomalies and potential causes of cost and schedule overruns
• Apply analytical methods to quantify delays in large-scale construction projects
• Assist with drafting expert reports for use in arbitration

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related discipline
• At least five years of post-graduate work experience in engineering and construction; ideally at least one year in delay and programming expert witness services
• Excellent written English; fluency in another language is preferred
• Aptitude for explaining complex technical matters to a non-technical audience
• Ability to travel as needed (generally under 15% of the time)
• Team player

Required skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Experience with planning software such as MS Project, Asta PowerProject or Primavera is an advantage
• Understanding of industry protocols is preferred
