Senior Back-End Engineer - Geospatial Platforms

About the role

EDGE Group PJSC is looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer to shape the server‑side foundation of its next‑generation geospatial platform. You will design, build, and operate reliable, scalable, and secure services that power critical workflows and integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python‑based microservices using FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Design, implement, and document REST and GraphQL APIs with versioning and security.
• Architect and optimise relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch) databases.
• Build cloud‑native applications with containers, Kubernetes, and event‑driven messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS).
• Implement authentication, authorization, and secure access controls.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and monitoring solutions.
• Integrate third‑party APIs and data feeds, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with front‑end developers, data scientists, and product teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Write automated tests, enforce code quality, and follow secure development practices.
• Troubleshoot performance, scalability, security, and integration issues across environments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience building production‑grade backend applications and services.
• Proven expertise in Python and modern web frameworks.
• Strong background in designing and delivering REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS/SNS.
• Solid knowledge of Linux, Git, CI/CD, and collaborative development workflows.
