Senior CNC Machinist

About the role

The Senior CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, programming, operating and optimizing CNC machines to manufacture, modify and repair oilfield tools and equipment according to engineering drawings, API specifications and Weatherford quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate CNC milling, lathe and turn‑mill machines using Heidenhain, Fanuc or Mazatrol controls.
• Develop and execute CNC programs from engineering drawings and API specifications, perform machine changeovers and select appropriate work‑holding fixtures and cutting tools.
• Inspect machined components with precision measuring instruments, document results and adjust parameters to maintain quality and productivity.
• Design and implement new tooling and fixtures to reduce cost and improve efficiency.
• Lead Kaizen and continuous‑improvement initiatives, support root‑cause analysis of non‑conformances and assist with preventive maintenance.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience, including milling and lathe operations.
• Proven ability to program and operate CNC machines independently.
• Experience in oilfield equipment manufacturing and knowledge of API rotary, casing and tubing thread requirements.
• Willingness to work 12‑hour shifts and adhere to HSE and quality standards.

Required skills

• Heidenhain, Fanuc or Mazatrol CNC control programming.
• CNC milling, lathe and turn‑mill operation.
• Use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers.
• Interpretation of mechanical drawings, blueprints and BOMs.
• Knowledge of tooling geometry, cutting parameters and fixture setup.
