Senior Commercial Property Underwriter – FAC RI

About the role

AIG is hiring a Senior Commercial Property Underwriter (Facultative Reinsurance) in Dubai. The role covers assessing and evaluating property risks and deciding the appropriate insurance terms and conditions, with close interaction with the Property Claims Manager and regional heads on portfolio-level decisions such as pricing, occupancy mix and underwriting guidelines. The position works with actuaries, engineers, brokers, cedants and claims managers to price risks and build a profitable, diversified portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the existing renewal portfolio and secure new business through regular market visits.
• Achieve budgeted top-line production and profitability through sound daily underwriting decisions.
• Educate the local business community on property products through presentations and seminars.
• Stay aware of the legal and regulatory environment, complete mandatory AIG training and report on budget metrics and forecasts.
• Analyse portfolios, mentor new and junior underwriters, and take part in team building.
• Handle facultative reinsurance placements when needed and liaise with Accounting and Claims.
• Take part in presentations, seminars and internal technical training.
• Conduct regular engineering surveys with risk engineers on large, complex and high-hazard risks.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Management or Business Management.
• Experience in commercial property underwriting, knowledge of the insurance industry and claims experience.
• Extensive underwriting market knowledge.
• Primarily in-office work, as AIG values in-person collaboration.
