Senior Commissioning Engineer – Mechanical

About the role

The Senior Commissioning Engineer – Mechanical will lead commissioning activities, support the Principal Commissioning Engineer, and act as a mentor for less‑experienced colleagues. This role involves hands‑on troubleshooting, testing, and coordination with project teams and clients on complex oil‑ and gas projects.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Commissioning Manager and assist in preparing home‑office deliverables.
• Participate in walk‑down inspections, punch listing, and testing of mechanical, electrical, and instrument components on site.
• Develop and maintain commissioning manuals, start‑up spares, consumables, and procedures.
• Conduct equipment system checks, functional testing, and performance testing during start‑up.
• Supervise craft personnel and coordinate activities with other commissioning engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
• 8‑15 years of oil & gas experience with a major contractor or consultant.
• Minimum 5 years in a chemical, refinery, or oil & gas processing facility.
• At least 2 years of commissioning and start‑up experience in the same sector.
• Willingness to travel internationally to construction sites.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Strong technical communication skills for engineers and non‑engineers.
