Senior Commissioning Engineer (Safety Systems) - Offshore, WHT, Subsea & Piping

About the role

Penspen, a global energy services company providing asset integrity, engineering and consultancy services to the oil, gas, hydrogen and energy infrastructure sectors, is recruiting a Senior Commissioning Engineer (Safety Systems) for an offshore PMC project in Abu Dhabi. The role covers safety systems commissioning for offshore oil and gas projects, including Wellhead Towers (WHTs), offshore platforms, subsea cable and pipeline developments and brownfield modifications.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Fire & Gas (F&G) systems, Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems and associated safety-critical equipment are installed, tested, integrated, validated and handed over in line with project specifications, international standards, regulatory requirements and safety objectives.
• Act as the focal point for safety systems commissioning and ensure the facility is ready for safe startup and operation.
• Develop commissioning execution plans, procedures and test protocols, and define system boundaries and handover sequences.
• Review engineering deliverables, control philosophies, cause-and-effect charts, shutdown narratives and safety requirement specifications.
• Take part in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL verification, constructability and operational readiness reviews, and prepare commissioning schedules aligned with project milestones and startup plans.
• Support commissioning of safety systems on Wellhead Towers and verify communication and shutdown interfaces between WHTs and central processing facilities, as well as between offshore and onshore facilities.
• Take part in integrated testing of subsea infrastructure, client witnessing and acceptance testing, and manage technical clarifications and commissioning issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Control Systems, Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years significant in offshore projects.
• Proven commissioning experience involving safety systems.
• Experience with offshore platforms, Wellhead Towers, jackets and topsides, and brownfield offshore facilities.
• Preferred PMC/EPC background and previous ADNOC Offshore experience.
