About the role

Kpler is hiring a Senior Crude Oil Research Analyst based in Dubai. As the regional market authority on Middle Eastern physical crude dynamics, the role focuses on refinery activity, product yields and downstream trade flows. It sits at the intersection of physical cargo tracking and fundamental market analysis, translating refinery runs and crude movements into clear intelligence for global commodity traders.

Key responsibilities

• Research Middle Eastern physical crude and refined product markets, covering refinery runs, crude throughput, planned maintenance and physical trade flows.
• Maintain and refine proprietary supply-demand and refinery activity models, benchmarked against JODI, EIA and IEA data.
• Lead analysis and client-facing insights on Middle Eastern Official Selling Prices (OSPs), pricing mechanisms and crude grade differentials.
• Write research reports, market briefs and ad-hoc commentary on cargo and inventory data.
• Present regional insights at client briefings, webinars and media events.
• Work with Sales, Customer Success and Product Engineering to support pre-sales and co-develop analytics offerings.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience analysing crude oil markets, with knowledge of refinery operations, trading dynamics and physical trade flows.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical discipline (Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics or Energy Management).
• Proven track record of independent research, analysis and writing of market commentary.
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Data analytics and quantitative skills, including manipulation of complex datasets to assess supply, demand and refinery margins.
• Nice to have: practical use of Kpler cargo-tracking data, AIS platforms or similar tools; SQL, Python or R; familiarity with Middle Eastern crude pricing benchmarks and NOC pricing structures.
