Senior Data Engineer

About the role

Cognite is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement scalable data solutions on its Cognite Data Fusion® platform. You will work with industry leaders in power, utilities, energy, and manufacturing to deliver production‑grade pipelines that enable data‑driven decision making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of efficient data engineering solutions using Cognite Data Fusion®.
• Develop and manage data integrations, extractions, modeling, and analysis with Cognite data connectors, SQL, Python/Java, and REST APIs.
• Create custom data models for discovery, mapping, and cleansing.
• Collaborate with data scientists, solution architects, and project managers to deliver customer projects.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and ensure maintainable, high‑quality code.
• Support customers and partners in data engineering tasks and contribute to Cognite’s official tools and SDKs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (experience may substitute formal education).
• Minimum 8 + years of experience in a customer‑facing, data‑intensive role.
• Proven experience delivering production‑grade data pipelines using Python, SQL, and REST APIs.
• Experience with distributed computing (Kubernetes) and managed cloud services (GCP and/or Azure).
• Ability to work independently, investigate problems, and share knowledge within cross‑functional teams.
