Senior Data Engineer - UAE

About the role

Cognite builds AI and data solutions for industrial digitalization, with a focus on Power & Utilities, Energy and Manufacturing. It is looking for a Senior Data Engineer in the UAE to lead the design and implementation of scalable data engineering solutions on its platform Cognite Data Fusion, working with solution architects, data scientists and project managers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, efficient data engineering solutions using Cognite Data Fusion.
• Manage integrations, extractions, data modeling and analysis with Cognite data connectors, SQL, Python/Java and REST APIs.
• Create custom data models for data discovery, mapping and cleansing.
• Work with data scientists, project managers and solution architects on project delivery so customers get the most out of the industrial dataops platform.
• Review code and apply best practices for high-quality, maintainable code.
• Support customers and partners with data engineering tasks using Cognite products.
• Contribute to Cognite's official tools and SDKs.
• Work with Engineering and Product Management to turn customer needs into a prioritized product pipeline.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or similar; relevant experience can compensate for formal education.
• At least 8 years of experience in a customer-facing, data-intensive role.
• Experience delivering production-grade data pipelines with Python, SQL and REST APIs.
• Knowledge of data sources in oil and gas and manufacturing is a plus.
• DevOps mindset, able to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• Distributed computing with Kubernetes and managed cloud services such as GCP and/or Azure.
• Git, CI/CD and deployment environments.
• SQL, Python, Java and REST APIs.
