Senior Electric Motor Engineer

About the role

POWERTECH, a centre of excellence for propulsion technologies within EDGE Group, is seeking a Senior Electric Motor Engineer to lead the design and development of high‑reliability electric machines for aerospace, defence and automotive propulsion systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead concept, detailed electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical design of electric motors for e‑propulsion, hybrid systems, APUs and actuation.
• Define motor architectures with focus on power density, efficiency, redundancy and fault tolerance.
• Perform advanced simulations using ANSYS Maxwell, JMAG, Motor‑CAD and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Integrate motor‑inverter‑control systems, develop torque control maps and fault‑detection strategies.
• Oversee prototype builds, qualification testing, performance validation and root‑cause analysis.
• Support certification activities (DO‑160, DO‑254, MIL‑STD, ISO 26262, IEC/ISO) and production ramp‑up.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, Aerospace or related engineering.
• Extensive experience in electric motor design for safety‑critical propulsion applications.
• Proven ability to lead technical reviews, trade studies and risk assessments.
• Strong collaboration skills with power electronics, controls, systems, test and quality teams.
