Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

ARX is expanding its Middle East presence and seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer for its Dubai site office. The role focuses on leading MV distribution and power system design for large, complex projects, ensuring compliance with DEWA regulations and authority approvals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical power design including MV distribution, LV interfaces, substations, transformers, switchgear, standby generation, UPS, critical power, earthing and lightning protection.
• Prepare and review design calculations and studies such as load schedules, cable sizing, voltage drop, load flow, short‑circuit, protection coordination, relay settings and arc‑flash analyses.
• Produce design reports, specifications, single‑line diagrams, BOQs and manage DEWA 11kV and substation submissions through approval to energisation.
• Define standby generator, synchronisation, UPS and critical power architecture with resilience and maintainability considerations.
• Specify explosion‑proof and hazardous‑area requirements for classified zones and review related equipment certifications.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, ELV/ICT, civil, BIM/CAD) and lead design review meetings.
• Provide design support during testing, commissioning, energisation planning and handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering; chartered status advantageous.
• Minimum 12 years of electrical engineering experience, at least 6 years in MV distribution and power systems design in the UAE.
• Hands‑on experience with DEWA regulations, 11kV submissions, substation approvals, metering, load schedules, NOCs and energisation.
• Airport or aviation facilities experience, preferably with critical power, substations, hangars or MRO facilities.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 60076, IEC 60079, IEC 61439, BS 7671/NEC, IEEE 141/242 and relevant UAE codes.
