Senior Engineer – Earthworks (Rail Infrastructure)

About the role

Sener is seeking a Senior Engineer – Earthworks to lead design activities for major railway and metro projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on earthworks, grading, railway formation, material balance and constructability, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead earthworks design across concept, preliminary, detailed and tender stages, including grading, cut‑and‑fill, slope geometry and railway formation.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings, digital models, specifications, technical reports, quantities and design submissions.
• Coordinate earthworks designs with track alignment, drainage, geotechnical, structures, utilities, environmental and construction disciplines.
• Support optimisation, spoil management, borrow‑source planning, mass‑haul assessments and construction sequencing.
• Identify and resolve design issues, risks and multidisciplinary interface conflicts, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of professional earthworks design experience, with at least 5 years on rail projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Transportation Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience on major railway or metro projects, preferably in Saudi Arabia or the GCC.
• Professional registration (PE, Chartered Engineer) is preferred.
