Senior Engineer - Environment (Rail)

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Engineer - Environment to join its team on a Program Management/Construction Management (PMCM) project in Dubai. The role suits someone with extensive experience in environmental supervision and management, particularly on rail infrastructure projects, and covers environmental compliance, risk mitigation and sustainability integration across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure project activities comply with local, regional and international environmental regulations and standards, through regular site inspections, audits and assessments.
• Oversee the environmental aspects of the PMCM project and collaborate with design, construction and operations teams to embed environmental considerations in planning and execution.
• Identify environmental risks, develop mitigation strategies and conduct risk and opportunity reviews.
• Act as the main point of contact for environmental matters with regulators, contractors and other stakeholders, and provide technical guidance and training to project teams.
• Drive sustainability initiatives and implement solutions that improve environmental performance.
• Prepare environmental reports, compliance documentation, risk assessments and performance metrics, and keep accurate records of environmental activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in environmental engineering or supervision, with at least 3-5 years on PMCM projects preferred.
• Proven experience in rail infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
• Certifications such as ISO 14001, NEBOSH or equivalent are preferred.
