Senior Engineer - Materials

About the role

ADNOC Distribution is hiring a Senior Engineer Materials in Abu Dhabi. The role covers all materials engineering and control activities, including technical cataloguing and codification of spare parts, general materials, capital, insurance and project materials, and ensuring the technical suitability of materials for operations, maintenance and projects.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control technical cataloguing and codification of materials, and ensure proper classification, standardization, criticality and bill of materials
• Ensure engineering standards are followed in procurement of maintenance, repair and operational spares and general materials
• Take part in the SPIR (spare parts interchangeability record) review, verify, evaluate and recommend spares for procurement
• Inspect goods, reconcile items against approved SPIRs, accept materials and advise on payments to suppliers and contractors
• Liaise with the warehouse on certifications and MSDS, and raise and follow up Materials Discrepancy Reports for damaged or short-received goods
• Reconcile project surplus and commissioning spares with contractors against as-built drawings and arrange return of unused materials
• Resolve technical queries during procurement, coordinate technical evaluations with end users, and alert on standardization and obsolescence
• Determine spare parts criticality, set up and monitor KPIs for subordinates, and provide MIS and KPI reports
• Guide materials engineering staff in compiling material descriptions from drawings, catalogues and data sheets
• Evaluate new supply sources, interview suppliers, visit sites, run prequalification and sampling, and liaise with end users, procurement and warehouses
• Track MIS, technical library, SPIR and MCAD reports, and work with the ADNOC inventory excellence team on health checks, KPIs, ERP requirements and continuous improvement

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or instrumentation engineering
• 8 years of experience in materials management (cataloguing, standardization, inventory, stores, SPIR review, technical evaluation and inspection), including 8 years in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry

Required skills

• Excellent computer skills
• Spreadsheet and database skills, with experience in an ERP environment (MAXIMO, Oracle or SAP)
