Senior HVAC Engineer – Abu Dhabi

About the role

Technip Energies is seeking a Senior HVAC Engineer to lead the design, engineering, analysis, and execution support of HVAC systems for onshore and offshore oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, and industrial projects in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of HVAC systems for industrial, commercial, and oil & gas facilities.
• Prepare HVAC design calculations, equipment sizing, ventilation studies, heat‑load and pressure‑loss calculations.
• Develop system layouts, duct routing, equipment arrangements, and airflow distribution plans.
• Produce and review engineering deliverables such as design basis memoranda, HVAC philosophies, equipment datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions, drawings and material take‑offs.
• Perform HVAC simulations and analyses using industry‑standard software.
• Participate in FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, brownfield and greenfield projects, coordinating with mechanical, process, electrical, instrumentation, structural and piping teams.
• Support procurement, technical bid evaluation and vendor document reviews to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, construction, pre‑commissioning and commissioning phases.
• Ensure designs comply with ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ISO standards, local regulations and client requirements.
• Mentor junior HVAC engineers and coordinate discipline activities to meet project schedules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree is an advantage).
• Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification preferred.
• 14–20 years of HVAC engineering experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, refinery, LNG or industrial projects.
• Proven experience in FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, brownfield and greenfield environments.
• Experience on onshore and offshore facilities; prior work on ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, PDO or similar Middle‑East projects is highly preferred.

Required skills

• HVAC system design and calculations (heat‑load, ventilation, pressure loss).
• HVAC simulation software (e.g., HAP, TRACE or equivalent).
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA and ISO standards.
• Preparation of engineering deliverables: design basis, specifications, datasheets, drawings, MTOs.
• Multidisciplinary coordination with mechanical, process, electrical, instrumentation, structural and piping teams.
