Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse

About the role

The Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse will lead the hospital’s infection control program, providing expert consultation, education and policy development to minimise healthcare‑associated infections. Working closely with clinical teams, the role ensures compliance with local and regulatory standards while driving evidence‑based practices across all departments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and consultation on infection control to clinical, administrative and support staff.
• Collaborate with all departments to develop, review and implement infection‑control policies.
• Advise occupational health, laboratory and risk management on blood‑borne pathogen exposures and other infection‑prevention issues.
• Lead the infection prevention and control committee and represent the team in external meetings.
• Conduct product evaluations and financial/value analyses for infection‑control initiatives.
• Deliver bedside clinical consultations to nurses, physicians and allied health professionals.
• Communicate reportable infectious disease data to HAAD and monitor antibiotic therapy.
• Design, implement and analyse surveillance systems using the latest NHSN definitions.
• Perform epidemiologic investigations and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• Demonstrated knowledge of microbiological and epidemiological principles and isolation precautions.
• Experience in developing and reviewing infection‑control policies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills for reporting to regulatory bodies such as HAAD.
