Senior Instrumentation Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to lead and review detailed instrumentation design for offshore oil & gas facilities. The role involves developing design deliverables, ensuring compliance with client specifications and international standards, and providing on‑site engineering support through construction, commissioning and hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of instrumentation design documents such as instrument indexes, datasheets, loop diagrams, cable schedules, I/O lists and cause‑and‑effect matrices.
• Develop and verify P&IDs, control philosophies and design basis for offshore facilities, ensuring adherence to IEC, ISA, API, ISO and hazardous area requirements.
• Review and approve instrument sizing and selection for flow, level, pressure, temperature, analyzers, control valves, PSVs and fire‑and‑gas devices.
• Support SIL studies (HAZOP, LOPA, SIL verification) and integrate outcomes into design.
• Coordinate with vendors, attend kick‑off meetings, FATs and site inspections, and manage technical queries and change orders.
• Provide on‑site engineering support during construction, loop checking, pre‑commissioning, commissioning and SAT, resolving RFIs and NCRs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics or Control Engineering with at least 10 years of oil & gas experience, primarily on offshore EPC projects.
• Proven ability to lead detailed engineering, mentor junior staff and manage discipline progress, man‑hours and budget.
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to HSE and quality, and willingness to work on‑site at ADNOC locations in Abu Dhabi.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/INtools) and AutoCAD for instrumentation design.
• In‑depth knowledge of DCS, ESD and fire‑and‑gas (F&G) systems, hazardous‑area classification and SIL concepts.
• Experience with instrument sizing, selection and loop checking for flow, level, pressure, temperature and analyzer devices.
• Familiarity with international standards (IEC, ISA, API, ISO) and HAZOP/LOPA/SIL study methodologies.
