Senior Internal Audit Advisor

About the role

The Internal Audit Advisor acts as a senior strategic partner to the Director of Internal Audit, supporting MBZUAI’s mandate to protect and create organizational value. This full‑time, remote role provides expert advisory across governance, risk management, internal controls, and transformation initiatives, ensuring audit insights align with global standards and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Director of Internal Audit on complex functional, strategic, and operational matters, offering independent perspectives and critical challenge.
• Lead and deliver special assignments, strategic reviews, and high‑priority initiatives, often involving cross‑functional or high‑risk areas.
• Manage complex audit and advisory engagements end‑to‑end, including scoping, stakeholder engagement, analysis, and reporting.
• Support development and execution of the internal audit strategy and audit plan, identifying emerging risks and aligning coverage with organizational priorities.
• Represent the Internal Audit function in internal and external meetings, influencing outcomes and maintaining credibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (higher qualifications preferred).
• Minimum 12 years of internal audit experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.
• Relevant certification such as CIA, CRMA, CFE, CISA, or cCAE.
• Experience in Big 4, private, or public sectors with strong knowledge of global and local audit standards.
• Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders and audit committees.
