Senior Internal Auditor (Support & Subsidiaries)

About the role

This role sits within the Internal Audit function of ADNOC Logistics & Shipping, the logistics arm of ADNOC Group. It covers audit engagements for support and subsidiary areas, from pre-planning through to wrap-up, and involves supervising junior auditors and assistant auditors during engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure successful completion of assigned audit engagements, including pre-planning and wrap-up, and report to one or more members of the Internal Audit management team depending on the engagement.
• Apply risk and control concepts to identify potential issues, and assist in periodic risk assessments, the division's risk-based work plans, and fraud risk assessments.
• Assist in reporting to the Audit Committee and Senior Management on audit activities, performance, significant risks, controls and governance issues.
• Take part in developing the Annual Audit Plan, define the audit spectrum and cover all operational and support areas under management accountability.
• Execute independent audits such as performance, operational, technical, compliance, financial, project and investigation audits, and supervise audits in line with the approved Risk & Control Matrix.
• Develop detailed audit programs and risk and control matrices, determine audit procedures including information systems techniques and statistical sampling, and maintain working papers in the automated Audit Management System.
• Follow up on management action plans, conduct follow-up audits, and review the adequacy of corrective actions.
• Participate in performance maturity assessments, the Audit & Assurance strategic plan, and periodic internal and external quality assurance and improvement programmes.
• Provide independent advice to special committees, support the implementation of internal control of financial reporting, and maintain timesheets and the audit database.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, nautical, logistics, commerce, finance, computer science or a related field; a master's or second bachelor's degree is preferred.
• 8 years of experience in internal auditing or related fields, including shipping, maritime or logistics, or 8 years in those industries with some internal audit experience, or 8 years in IT with some internal audit experience.
• Knowledge of internal audit standards, regulatory requirements, risk management and internal controls frameworks, and of the industry's operations, laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in English and/or Arabic.
• Internationally accredited certifications such as CIA, CPA, ACA, CISA, CFE or CRMA are listed as preferred.
