Senior Java Software Engineer – Sharjah (Arabic Speaking preferred)

About the role

DataFirst is looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to join an on‑site government project in Sharjah. This full‑time, long‑term position involves designing, developing, and maintaining high‑performance Java applications that support critical business processes.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers, product managers and cross‑functional teams to define and deliver new features.
• Gather and clarify technical requirements with clients and service providers.
• Design and implement scalable back‑end systems using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain reliable Oracle databases and related applications.
• Create, document and manage robust APIs (SOAP and REST).
• Apply security best practices, including JWT, Spring Security and OAuth2.
• Write clean, maintainable code and conduct thorough testing.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve software defects.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, OOP, design patterns, software architecture, database design and UML.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot and Oracle databases.
• Hands‑on experience building and consuming SOAP and REST web services.
• Knowledge of API security mechanisms (JWT, Spring Security, OAuth2) and data‑encryption concepts (RSA, AES) is a plus.
• Familiarity with Oracle WebLogic, Apache Tomcat and Oracle Fusion Middleware (OSB, BPM, UCM) is advantageous.
• Understanding of SOA and micro‑services architectures.
