Senior Legal Counsel – LNG Trading

About the role

ADNOC Trading Limited is looking for an ambitious Senior Legal Counsel to join its Legal, Compliance & Contracts team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on advising and supporting a fast‑growing international energy trading business, with particular emphasis on long‑term LNG transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on operational, commercial, corporate and transactional matters related to supply, trading and financing activities.
• Draft, review, interpret and amend a wide range of legal documents, including long‑term LNG sale and purchase agreements, terminal use agreements, regasification arrangements and lifting agreements.
• Support short‑term LNG trading and other commodity transactions such as crude oil, sulphur and emissions.
• Review and advise on shipping contracts, charterparty agreements and tender documentation.
• Assist with any litigation or claims affecting the company.
• Support the General Counsel and mentor junior legal staff.

Required profile

• Extensive experience (minimum 10 years) reviewing and drafting long‑term LNG sale and purchase agreements (5 years or longer).
• Proven expertise with terminal use agreements, regasification arrangements, lifting/balancing agreements and tender documentation.
• Strong background in shipping contracts, charterparty reviews, and commodity trading contracts (spot, forwards, physical and financial).
• Experience with derivative and exchange contracts and related rules.
• Ability to work independently, support senior leadership and guide junior team members.
