Senior Manager Mechanical - Data Centres

About the role

DAMAC Properties is hiring a Senior Manager Mechanical for its data centre business in Dubai. The role leads the mechanical engineering design, technical coordination and delivery of hyperscale and enterprise data centre projects from concept through commissioning and handover, overseeing internal teams, external consultants, specialist vendors and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of electrical systems: MV, HV, LV, UPS, standby power, grounding, lightning protection, lighting and small power, and review deliverables from concept to as-built.
• Coordinate mechanical interfaces with architecture, structure, civil, electrical, ICT, ELV, security and specialist systems, and lead multidisciplinary coordination.
• Monitor consultant performance, design schedules and milestones; conduct technical reviews, design audits and constructability reviews.
• Support value engineering, identify technical risks and design conflicts, and support procurement by reviewing technical submissions, equipment specs, vendor offers and shop drawings.
• Provide engineering support during FAT, SAT, commissioning, integrated systems testing and handover, and resolve RFIs, technical queries and engineering change requests.
• Act as the primary mechanical engineering technical authority, present solutions to senior management, and ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Lead, mentor and coach mechanical engineering teams, support recruitment and performance management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's in Mechanical Engineering or Project Management preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering design and project delivery.
• Minimum 7-10 years leading mechanical engineering teams on hyperscale, mission-critical or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience delivering complex data centre developments from concept through commissioning.
• Experience coordinating with international consultants, contractors, equipment manufacturers and vendors.

Required skills

• Mission-critical cooling technologies: chilled water systems, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, immersion cooling (desirable), cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAH/CRAC units, HVAC, ventilation, plumbing and fire protection.
• International codes and standards: ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, IPC, IMC, CIBSE and local authority requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management and decision-making skills.
