Senior Manager, Shari'a Audit

About the role

The Senior Manager, Shari'a Audit is responsible for organizing and managing internal Sharia audit assignments in line with the bank's audit plans. The role ensures compliance with AAOIFI standards and internal Sharia supervisory resolutions, providing reasonable assurance that Sharia risk is mitigated to an acceptable level.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and manage internal Sharia audit assignments according to internal audit plans.
• Lead complex Sharia audit projects, ensuring adherence to AAOIFI and Institute of Internal Auditors standards.
• Develop risk‑based Sharia audit plans, draft and update audit programmes, and prepare audit checklists.
• Coordinate with the Sharia IT project team to develop required reports and tools for audit execution.
• Prepare audit documentation, working papers, and present findings to management and the Internal Sharia Supervisory Committee.
• Follow up on management responses to audit exceptions and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Sharia, Islamic Economics or Islamic Banking.
• 5–10 years of experience in Sharia audit or related compliance functions.
• Professional certifications such as CISSA, CIPA or an internationally recognised auditing certificate.
• Strong knowledge of AAOIFI standards and Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards.
• Proficiency in both Arabic and English.
