Senior Managing Counsel, Regulatory EEMEA

About the role

Mastercard's global Privacy, Regulatory and Technology organization is looking for a Senior Managing Counsel to join its Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) region. The role reports to the Assistant General Counsel, Regulatory for EEMEA/Europe and works closely with the Senior Managing Counsel and the overall Regulatory Lead for EEMEA. It covers regulatory issues across relevant markets, with full accountability for advising the business and regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Support and advise the EEMEA regulatory team and the wider business on regulatory issues affecting Mastercard in the region
• Analyse existing and emerging laws and regulations affecting Mastercard's business and products, supporting strategy, growth and licensing decisions
• Advocate for regulatory reform through written and verbal consultations
• Monitor and manage regulatory changes using tracking and AI tools, and coordinate with stakeholders to assess impacts and support compliance
• Help prepare regulatory filings and respond to regulator requests
• Evaluate EEMEA and country-level regulatory risk and support teams in implementing controls
• Advise business stakeholders on product development and operations, and represent Mastercard at regulator engagements and industry forums

Required profile

• Attorney qualified to practice in the EEMEA region, with an LLB or JD from an established law school
• Substantial experience in a regulatory role within a corporation, association or government, or as a regulatory attorney in a law firm (ideally payments or banking)
• Experience managing regulatory supervision, advocacy and licensing processes
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
• Proven success in multinational, multicultural organisations
