Senior Materials & Coatings Engineer

About the role

The Senior Materials & Coatings Engineer will lead the Materials & Coatings discipline on complex oil‑and‑gas projects, providing technical expertise, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED, studies and detailed analyses and design according to project specifications and standards.
• Develop material selection deliverables, specifications, reports and diagrams for refinery, petrochemical and offshore units.
• Coordinate and contribute to risk‑based inspection (RBI) studies and vendor document reviews.
• Prepare clear and accurate design reports, procedures and material design documentation.
• Manage time to meet deadlines and budgets while supervising associate metallurgy engineers.
• Participate in bid clarification meetings, pre‑inspection meetings and proposal preparation for metallurgy‑related items.
• Identify scope changes, raise change notifications and support variation orders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
• 8‑15 years of oil‑and‑gas design experience with major contractors or consultants.
• Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or membership in a professional engineering society preferred.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Awareness of HSE, TQM and cost‑conscious practices.
• Eager to learn, open to continuous development and flexible to support other departments.
• Ability to manage heavy workloads and assist colleagues across projects.
