Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

PowerTech, a leading propulsion‑technology innovator, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of gas‑turbine components for turbojet and turbofan programmes. The role combines advanced mechanical design, integrity analysis and mentorship of junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise static and rotary gas‑turbine systems for life, weight, manufacturability and cost.
• Perform Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and define assembly procedures.
• Prepare detailed drawings and manufacturing guidelines.
• Conduct FMECA to support safety and operability assessments.
• Review designs and simulations, generate testing guidelines and identify project risks.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, providing constructive feedback.

Required profile

• Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree.
• 5‑15 years of experience in gas‑turbine propulsion, mechanical design and heat‑transfer analysis.
• Fluent English communication.
• Experience with gas‑turbine externals, accessories, disks, shafts, couplings and accessory gearboxes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in a CAD package such as SolidWorks or Siemens NX.
• Experience with PLM tools (Teamcenter, Windchill or equivalent).
• Knowledge of FEA or other simulation methods.
• Programming skills in C, MATLAB/Simulink.
• Understanding of GD&T, FRACAS processes and state‑of‑the‑art materials.
