Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC & Plumbing)

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the technical management, operation and maintenance of all mechanical and MEP systems across the Al Qana mixed‑use development in Abu Dhabi. The role provides hands‑on leadership to the site maintenance team and coordinates with tenants, consultants, contractors and authorities to ensure safe, reliable and efficient performance of HVAC, district cooling, plumbing and related equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor HVAC, district cooling, pumps, plumbing and drainage systems, troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions.
• Investigate tenant cooling complaints, perform heat‑load calculations and verify system capacities.
• Review mechanical calculations, shop drawings, technical submissions and method statements for compliance.
• Develop, monitor and execute the preventive‑maintenance (PPM) programme and manage reactive breakdowns.
• Supervise contractor works, ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, HSE and UAE authority standards.
• Maintain asset registers, inspection reports and provide regular status reports to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8–12 years of experience in facilities management, commercial or mixed‑use developments, with strong HVAC, district cooling and plumbing background.
• Proven experience in PPM, reactive maintenance, breakdown management and contractor supervision.
• Familiarity with UAE authority requirements, HSE procedures and relevant codes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and CMMS/facilities‑management systems.
