Senior Mechanical Engineer – MEP Design

About the role

Our client, a well‑established design practice in Dubai, is seeking a technically strong Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead MEP design, coordination and delivery across commercial, healthcare and specialist projects in the UAE and GCC. This hands‑on role covers the full project lifecycle from feasibility through to commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and coordination of HVAC, plumbing/public health and fire‑protection systems from concept to handover.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations for loads, duct and pipe sizing, pump duties, water demand and sprinkler hydraulics.
• Select and evaluate mechanical equipment for performance, energy efficiency and acoustic criteria.
• Produce Basis of Design, design criteria and engineering strategies for assigned projects.
• Coordinate with architecture, structural, electrical, AV/IT and other disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions.
• Conduct internal QA/QC, review contractor sub‑missions and support site inspections, testing and commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of MEP engineering experience, preferably in the UAE/GCC.
• Proven track record delivering commercial fit‑outs, refurbishments, laboratories, healthcare facilities or similar specialist environments.
• Strong knowledge of UAE/GCC authority requirements and standards (ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, SMACNA, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code).
• Professional registration or membership (e.g., UAE Society of Engineers) is advantageous.

• HVAC system design (chilled‑water, DX, VRF/VRV, FCU, AHU, FAHU).
• Plumbing/Public Health and fire‑protection system design.
• Carrier HAP or equivalent calculation software.
• AutoCAD, Navisworks and Microsoft Excel.
• BIM/Revit coordination.
