Senior Mechanical Stress Engineer

About the role

Edge’s PowerTech centre of excellence is seeking a Senior Mechanical Stress Engineer to lead stress and vibration analysis of gas‑turbine components for aerospace and defence programmes. The role combines advanced mechanical design, thermomechanical simulation and mentorship of junior engineers within a fast‑moving, high‑tech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise compressors, turbines, shafts, bearings and stationary structures for life, weight, manufacturability and cost.
• Perform thermo‑mechanical simulations across design, off‑design and far‑off‑design conditions to ensure safety and operability.
• Conduct creep, fatigue and fracture assessments, as well as vibration and rotodynamic analyses.
• Execute FMECA studies to support safety and reliability assessments.
• Review designs and simulation results, generate testing guidelines and identify project risks with mitigation plans.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, providing constructive feedback and technical guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical stress analysis of gas‑turbine propulsion systems.
• Proven ability to lead projects and develop technical talent.
