Senior Mechatronics Engineer – Abu Dhabi

About the role

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team. The role focuses on integrating electromechanical actuation, sensing, and control subsystems for the Omen hover-to-cruise transition and payload modules, working closely with the Costa Mesa engineering group and regional manufacturing partners.

Key responsibilities

• Bridge mission system and air-vehicle teams, ensuring alignment and end-to-end payload hardware integration.
• Lead selection of sensors and payload components through trade studies that balance performance, SWaP, thermal, latency and environmental robustness.
• Define and own payload interface control, including mechanical mounting, power, signal definitions, harnessing and time synchronization.
• Write production software and firmware for drivers, sensor processing, pointing and stabilization control loops, and health management.
• Support aircraft integration, bring-up, functional checkout and plan/execute ground and flight test campaigns for payload performance.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background (Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science or Physics) with at least 4 years of hands‑on electromechanical and sensor integration experience.
• Proven ability to travel up to 25 % of the time and work across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Programming/scripting: Python, MATLAB, C++, Bash, Rust.
• Low‑level communications: Ethernet, CAN, UART, SPI, I2C; real‑time systems and motor control.
• Sensor characterization and calibration: cameras, IMUs, encoders, GNSS, LIDAR.
• Test equipment proficiency: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, test‑automation rigs.
• Hardware design tools: reading schematics, board bring‑up, harness definition, CAD (SolidWorks, NX).
