Senior MRI Radiographer

About the role

The Senior MRI Radiographer will independently perform MRI examinations, ensure high‑quality diagnostic images, and support junior staff under the supervision of senior radiographers. This role requires strong technical knowledge of MRI equipment, anatomy, and patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all MRI procedures in line with department policies and produce diagnostic‑quality images.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, report shortages, and order replenishments as needed.
• Supervise and assist junior staff, stepping in for complex cases.
• Evaluate MRI sequences for quality, parameters, and completeness.
• Administer IV contrast agents, including cannulation, under supervision.
• Recognise anatomy and pathology to optimise scan protocols and liaise with radiologists.
• Operate advanced software on specialist MRI equipment.
• Maintain safe use of radiology equipment and report incidents or faults promptly.

Required profile

• Minimum two years post‑qualification experience in MRI.
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma (minimum three‑year program) in MRI.
• Bachelor’s degree in Radiography/Radiology Technology or Medical Imaging.
• Post‑graduate Diploma in MRI (minimum twelve months) or registration with ARRT, UK HCPC, AIR, or equivalent.
• Current national licence to practice.
