Senior Officer, Payment Investigation (Emiratised Role)

About the role

First Abu Dhabi Bank is hiring a Senior Officer, Payment Investigation (Emiratised role) in Abu Dhabi. The officer manages payment exceptions, reconciles Nostro and inter-branch accounts and investigates discrepancies such as non-receipt or defaulted funds, handling exceptions within established timelines, escalation matrices and reconciliation policies while supporting risk mitigation, accurate reporting and customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile Nostro, inter-branch, general ledger, card, ATM, CDM and other assigned accounts, checking that ledger entries match bank statements and branch ledgers.
• Investigate outstanding items, payment discrepancies, overdrafts, deal-rounding differences and non-receipt of funds, and follow up with branches, departments, business units and correspondent banks until resolved.
• Escalate payment exceptions by agreed timelines and risk levels, and manage exception correspondence through the ITRACS Exception Management interface.
• Monitor Nostro account service charges and escalate matters to the Financial Institutions Group when needed; prepare SWIFT messages for correspondent banks.
• Support monthly settlement of deal-rounding differences from exchange-rate variations.
• Prepare daily MIS reports, dashboards, exception reports, statistics and traffic-light reports, and maintain daily tick lists.
• Escalate operational risks, irregularities and incomplete tasks to the Senior Officer or Section Head, and keep records and documents updated daily.
• Respond to customer inquiries, support workload distribution and cover for absent colleagues, and suggest improvements to efficiency, service quality, risk controls and reconciliation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Economics, Commerce, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of relevant banking-sector experience, including at least 3 years in a similar account reconciliation role.
• Practical experience in cards, Nostro and internal account reconciliation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IntelliMatch or similar reconciliation systems.
• Knowledge of SWIFT standards, especially MT940 and MT950 messages.
• Experience in exception management, payment investigation, operational risk and MIS reporting.
• Analytical, investigative and follow-up skills, good judgment, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication.
