Senior Oil Tanker Operation Specialist

About the role

Rania Group, a player in oil and gas trading and refining, is expanding its operations in the United Arab Emirates. We are looking for a senior professional to manage day‑to‑day oil tanker operations and ensure commercial interests are protected.

Key responsibilities

• Handle vessel nominations, port clearances, loading, discharge and ship‑to‑ship (STS) transfers.
• Draft, review and negotiate charter parties, fixture recaps and related clauses.
• Prepare and verify laytime and demurrage calculations, submit claims and negotiate settlements.
• Review Notices of Readiness, Statements of Facts and pumping logs to determine time counting.
• Coordinate with vessel owners, charterers, masters, terminals, agents and surveyors to execute voyages efficiently.
• Monitor vessel schedules, laycans, ETAs and port conditions, taking action to minimise delays and costs.
• Assess freight, port expenses, agency fees, bunker costs and demurrage exposure.
• Oversee cargo inspection, sampling, measurement and quality verification, investigating discrepancies.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of tanker operations and commercial shipping experience, primarily shore‑based.
• Established network of shipping agents and independent surveyors across the Arabian Gulf.
• Proven decision‑making ability to resolve complex operational issues under pressure.
• Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating charter parties and related documents.
• Strong practical knowledge of laytime, demurrage calculations and claims handling.
• Advanced commercial shipping skills, including voyage economics and freight assessment.
• Thorough understanding of tanker cargo operations, loading/discharge procedures and STS transfers.
• Excellent written and spoken English with professional email and commercial correspondence skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and relevant shipping/voyage management systems.
• Relevant maritime degree or professional qualification is preferred.
