Senior Patient Safety & Quality Officer

About the role

The Senior Patient Safety & Quality Officer supports the Patient Safety & Quality (PSQ) team in managing and executing safety and quality initiatives across the hospital. This role ensures systematic monitoring of patient safety events, data‑driven analysis, and the rollout of improvement projects to foster a culture of safety and high‑quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and evaluate patient safety events and conduct data analysis.
• Assist in planning, implementing, and tracking quality improvement projects.
• Coordinate departmental activities, schedule meetings, and take minutes when required.
• Maintain records, filing systems, and logs related to JCI and other accreditation requirements.
• Prepare and circulate policies, procedures, guidelines, and forms, ensuring outdated documents are withdrawn.
• Support accreditation meetings and assist the Head of Department with compliance documentation.
• Participate in OSH, infection‑control training, emergency drills, and risk‑assessment activities.
• Develop, monitor, and report on the hospital’s Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) in line with DHA/MOH standards.
• Coordinate the facility’s risk‑management program with all stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in patient safety, quality improvement, and healthcare accreditation.
• Strong knowledge of JCI, DHA, MOH, and related regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with emergency procedures, OSH standards, and risk‑assessment processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with word‑processing, presentation, and database software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Data analysis and reporting capabilities.
• Risk assessment and OSHMS implementation experience.
