Senior Planning Engineer

About the role

Wood Group is urgently seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to strengthen its project controls team in Dubai. The role focuses on implementing best planning and scheduling practices, supporting lead planners, and ensuring project schedules align with the approved Work Breakdown Structure.

Key responsibilities

• Implement best planning and scheduling practices in compliance with Wood procedures.
• Provide planning focal point for specific project scopes.
• Develop and maintain planning control structures aligned with the approved WBS.
• Create and maintain baseline project plans and schedules using appropriate scheduling software.
• Monitor and control planning activities throughout all project phases.
• Liaise with engineering, procurement, construction and third‑party functions to track project status and schedule impact.
• Produce and distribute project plans, schedules and progress reports as required.
• Update project plans, schedules and manpower requirements.
• Assess and communicate schedule impacts of change notifications.
• Track overall project progress, milestone achievement and performance versus plan.
• Attend internal project progress and performance meetings.
• Delegate, manage and support subordinate project‑controls planning staff.
• Coordinate with cost discipline to forecast man‑hour budgets and incorporate change impacts.
• Participate in schedule risk analysis and audit compliance with planning procedures.
• Adhere to Wood Quality Assurance and HSE processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in planning and scheduling within engineering or construction projects.
• Ability to act as the planning focal point for defined project scopes.
• Experience delegating, managing and supporting planning staff.
• Familiarity with Wood’s quality assurance and health‑safety standards.
• Strong liaison skills with engineering, procurement, construction and cost teams.
