Senior Primary Design Engineer – Substation

About the role

We are seeking experienced Electrical Primary Design Engineers to join our Dubai Engineering Design Team, focusing on high‑voltage (HV/EHV) AIS/GIS substation projects across the Middle East & Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Perform primary electrical design and detailed engineering for HV/EHV AIS/GIS substations, including SLDs, general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, busbar arrangements and cable routing.
• Carry out earthing, lightning protection, electrical clearance and HV cable sizing calculations, as well as design of auxiliary transformer, AC/DC systems, battery banks and UPS.
• Prepare equipment specifications, datasheets, BOQ/MTO and review vendor drawings.
• Conduct power system studies such as load flow and short‑circuit analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Power Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on primary design experience on 132 kV, 220 kV or 400 kV AIS/GIS substations.
• UAE/GCC EPC project experience is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with DEWA, TAQA/TRANSCO, EtihadWE or SEWA projects is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of ETAP, CYMCAP and CYMGRD (preferred).
• Understanding of IEC/IEEE standards and HV equipment selection.
• Experience with load flow and short‑circuit analysis.
