Senior Principal Engineer, DLC Mechanical Commissioning Lead

About the role

Dell Technologies is looking for a highly experienced DLC Mechanical Commissioning Lead Engineer to lead the commissioning and deployment of liquid cooling infrastructure across EMEA. The role suits someone who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership and thrives in fast-paced, evolving AI environments. It is more than a commissioning role: you act as the onsite technical authority, leading mechanical commissioning from design review through customer handover, while helping set and improve the standards, processes and methodologies that support the growth of the global DLC business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate internal deployment teams, service delivery engineers, contractors, OEM staff and the customer team to deliver mechanical commissioning.
• Own the commissioning lifecycle, from planning and readiness reviews through Level 2 to Level 5 commissioning and final handover.
• Serve as the primary onsite technical authority for commissioning activities and technical escalations.
• Take part in design reviews, constructability reviews and commissioning readiness assessments to identify risks.
• Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, control philosophies and sequences of operation to confirm readiness and alignment with design intent.
• Lead safe commissioning in line with site EHS requirements, RAMS and risk assessments, and verify that installed systems meet operational, performance, reliability and customer acceptance requirements.
• Lead root cause investigations and troubleshooting during commissioning, performance validation and defect resolution.
• Support onboarding, coaching and technical development of commissioning engineers and deployment partners, and deliver onsite training and knowledge transfer to customers, partners and internal teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
• 10+ years of experience in commissioning, deployment, operations or engineering in mission-critical environments such as data centres, industrial process cooling, power generation or oil & gas.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, pumping systems, material compatibility and corrosion control.
• Technical report writing, troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.

Desirable requirements

• Experience commissioning DLC infrastructure, including CDUs, secondary fluid networks, rear doors and air containment.
• Experience with commissioning management platforms such as CxAlloy.
• Familiarity with ASHRAE, OCP and Nvidia guidelines, and with FAT, SAT, IST and Level 2-5 commissioning.
• Knowledge of control systems, PLCs, BMS integration and data centre infrastructure monitoring platforms.
