Senior Product Quality Engineer

About the role

The Senior Product Quality Engineer holds product approval authority for supplier‑manufactured parts across Powertech propulsion programs, including turbofan, microjet and piston engines. The role involves reviewing and approving supplier quality plans, PPAP packages and first article inspections, and providing technical leadership to junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve supplier APQP submissions, PPAP packages and first article inspection reports in accordance with AS9145 and AS9102.
• Define inspection and acceptance requirements, sampling strategies and acceptance criteria for supplier‑manufactured parts.
• Manage nonconformance, material review records, concessions and 8D corrective actions.
• Coordinate design change implementation, configuration traceability and change impact assessments.
• Engage with suppliers through gate reviews, on‑site audits and product readiness support.
• Mentor junior Product Quality Engineers and develop standardised approval procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Materials or Metrology Engineering.
• 6+ years of aerospace quality, supplier quality or manufacturing engineering experience.
• Authority‑level experience reviewing APQP, PPAP (AS9145) and first article inspection (AS9102) packages.
• Ability to make approval decisions under schedule and commercial pressure while maintaining supplier relationships.

Required skills

• GD&T application, tolerance interpretation and drawing analysis.
• Metrology competence – CMM, optical and contact measurement, gauge design, measurement systems analysis.
• Statistical process control and process capability assessment (Cpk).
• Nonconformance, material review, concession management and 8D problem solving.
• Knowledge of AS9100, aerospace special processes, configuration and change management.
