Senior Satellite Systems Engineer

About the role

Orbitworks, building on Loft Orbital's heritage, is the first commercial firm in the UAE to mass-manufacture satellites, aiming to build tens of satellites per year from a 50,000-square-foot facility in Abu Dhabi. As a Senior Satellite Systems Engineer, you will act as a technical reference for one or several satellite missions, each with a single or multi-payload configuration, working closely with the mission manager and the product development, flight and ground software, AIT and operations teams. Using flight-proven satellite buses and Loft-designed payload hubs, you will lead the development of the missions you are responsible for.

Key responsibilities

• Work with customers to define and manage system requirements and verification techniques, flowing them down to software or hardware teams.
• Develop interface specifications and derive the overall satellite architecture and design with your team.
• Work with product and sub-systems engineers to develop and maintain technical budgets for spacecraft performance.
• Work with flight operations to develop mission CONOPS and support Service Level Agreements with customers.
• Assist with program and product management, including interfacing with customers on programmatic and scheduling matters.
• Support test procedures and take part in integration, test campaigns, launch and in-orbit commissioning.

Required profile

• 10 years or more of demonstrated experience as a spacecraft/satellite systems engineer, or equivalent experience in at least two different subsystems (ADCS, mechanical, thermal, power, avionics, etc.).
• Experience in satellite assembly, integration and test campaigns from a systems perspective, and/or in spacecraft delivery to orbit.
• Comfortable challenging norms in aerospace engineering and testing, in a fast-paced development environment, and able to handle pressure positively.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Experience on small sats (under 500 kg).
• Electrical sub-systems experience.
• STK proficiency and knowledge of Python.
• International experience.
