Senior Software Engineer, Windows/Desktop Applications

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and development of native Windows desktop applications used by millions worldwide. The role focuses on building high‑performance, accessible software that transforms written content into audio experiences across multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, architect, and implement Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and optionally C++.
• Define and enforce best practices for performance, memory management, and cross‑version Windows compatibility.
• Drive accessibility initiatives, ensuring compliance with Windows accessibility APIs such as UI Automation.
• Collaborate with product, design, UX, QA, and other engineering teams to shape feature scope and UI/UX architecture.
• Own the full software development lifecycle from design through release and maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues including performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering problems, and compatibility challenges.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience developing Windows desktop applications with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML.
• Strong understanding of .NET, native interop (Win32/WinRT/COM) and architectural patterns.
• Proven track record of shipping production‑grade desktop software with a focus on performance and reliability.
• Hands‑on experience with accessibility APIs (e.g., Microsoft UI Automation).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fully distributed, cross‑functional team.
