Senior Underwriter – Marine

About the role

Zurich Insurance is seeking a Senior Underwriter – Marine to join its Commercial Insurance Middle East team in Dubai. The role involves independently underwriting medium to high‑complexity marine cargo business and supporting the sales culture across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and analyse new and renewal marine cargo business within delegated authority, handling highly complex assignments.
• Administer underwriting rules, insurance laws, regulations and rating manuals.
• Develop and maintain relationships with agents and brokers to retain and acquire business.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior underwriters and act as a mentor.
• Negotiate terms and conditions, close deals and cross‑sell other lines of business.
• Lead product development, create underwriting manuals, programs and guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of underwriting or market‑facing experience, primarily in marine cargo.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques and local filing regulations.
• Ability to assess risk, work in a team‑based environment and meet quote time‑frames.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
