Senior Vertical Transportation Engineer - Site

About the role

Egis Group is looking for a Senior Engineer – Vertical Transportation (VT) to join its team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The role oversees the installation, commissioning and maintenance of elevators, escalators and moving walkways on construction and renovation projects, with technical leadership, stakeholder coordination and strict adherence to safety, quality and efficiency standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the installation, testing and commissioning of elevators, escalators and moving walkways on construction and renovation projects
• Carry out detailed technical inspections and troubleshooting of VT equipment to identify and resolve issues
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications and building codes to ensure compliance with UAE regulations and international standards
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors and project teams to integrate VT systems within project timelines and budgets
• Develop site safety protocols and quality assurance procedures for VT activities
• Prepare technical reports, documentation and performance analyses
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians
• Manage preventive maintenance schedules and oversee corrective actions
• Communicate technical findings and recommendations to project managers, clients and stakeholders
• Stay current with industry advancements, emerging technologies and regulatory changes

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in vertical transportation systems, including installation, maintenance and commissioning
• Proven expertise with major VT manufacturers such as OTIS, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in site supervision and project coordination
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong organization and time management

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of elevator and escalator mechanics, hydraulic and traction systems and control technologies
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics and specifications
• Understanding of UAE building codes, safety standards and regulatory requirements for vertical transportation
• Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with project management tools
• Preferred: CAD, BIM, QA/QC, vendor management, budget management, and certification in VT systems
