Shari’a Compliance Officer

About the role

The Shari’a Compliance Officer will ensure that ADIB Group adheres to the Higher Shari’a Authority (HSA) standards, ISSC resolutions and Central Bank of UAE regulations. The role involves managing the receipt, recording and dissemination of new resolutions, conducting gap assessments and monitoring corrective actions across the bank’s operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the team leader in supervising the Shari’a compliance unit and its members.
• Record, translate and distribute new HSA and ISSC resolutions using the Governance, Risk and Control system.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date database of all resolutions for easy reference.
• Communicate resolutions to relevant departments and ensure proper implementation.
• Conduct comprehensive gap assessments, identify risks and evaluate existing controls.
• Recommend corrective actions for identified non‑compliance and monitor action‑plan execution.
• Prepare regular reports, dashboards and updates for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Shari’a, Islamic banking or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Shari’a compliance, consultation or internal Shari’a audit within Islamic banking.
• AAOIFI CSAA and/or CIPA certifications (or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of Islamic commercial jurisprudence, Shari’a standards and banking products.

Required skills

• AAOIFI CSAA certification.
• CIPA certification.
• Knowledge of AAOIFI Shari’a standards.
• Knowledge of Islamic banking products.
• Fluency in Arabic.
• Fluency in English.
