Signalling Design Expert – Rail Systems

About the role

SJ Group is seeking an experienced Signalling Design Expert to support major rail and transportation projects in the United Arab Emirates. The role involves leading the design, development, and integration of railway signalling systems for a variety of rail modalities, ensuring safety, reliability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and development of signalling systems for Metro, Mainline, High‑Speed Rail, Light Rail Transit and Automated People Mover projects.
• Prepare comprehensive signalling documentation, including layouts, control tables, interface specifications, scheme plans and technical specifications.
• Coordinate signalling interfaces with telecommunications, SCADA, traction power, track, rolling stock, platform screen doors and other multidisciplinary systems.
• Ensure compliance with international railway standards, client requirements and applicable regulations throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Communications, Control Systems, Computer, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years of railway signalling design experience on Metro, Mainline, HSR, LRT or APM projects.
• Proven experience in international consultancy environments, preferably with UAE or GCC projects.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• CBTC, ETCS, Interlocking, ATP, ATO, ATS, wayside signalling systems.
• Railway RAMS principles and functional safety.
• Knowledge of CENELEC EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, IEC and IEEE railway standards.
• Signalling system architecture and interface specification development.
