Site HSE Engineer

About the role

Egis, an international engineering, consulting and construction firm operating in 100 countries, is looking for an experienced HSE Engineer to join its site team in the UAE. The consultant HSE Engineer acts as a liaison between the PMC/Client and the contractors, making sure contractors follow the approved HSE plan, procedures and legal requirements, and helping identify and control project risks.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in site meetings, including HSE meetings, and chair regular HSE meetings with minutes prepared, kept and shared.
• Run a proactive HSE monitoring programme: joint inspections, audits (quarterly, fire safety), meetings and presentations, and produce HSE reports as requested by the client.
• Review and forward monthly HSE reports with KPIs and trends, and prepare HSE alerts using the client-approved template.
• Take part in incident investigations and ensure reportable incidents are reported to the competent authority.
• Evaluate, monitor and manage the principal contractor's HSE behaviour and performance, and promote a positive HSE culture.
• Review and approve HSE plans, objectives, targets, risk assessments, method statements, enforcement notices, inspections, management walks and audit reports, and ensure contractors carry out task-specific risk assessments and method statements.
• Issue HSE enforcement notices for non-compliance and follow up until closed.
• Engage positively with the competent authority, register HSEMS, obtain permits and NOCs, and keep HSE documents up to date, including on systems such as Asite and Aconex.
• Recommend HSE appreciation certificates for good performance and share updates on legislation affecting the site.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in the HSE domain.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or HSE from an accredited university.
• Previous experience as a supervision consultant is mandatory.

Required skills

• NEBOSH Diploma or any HSE qualification at Level 5 or above.
• NEBOSH IGC.
• ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor qualification.
