Site Inspector - Structures

About the role

AESG, a specialist consultancy, engineering and advisory firm with offices in London, Riyadh, Singapore, Dubai, Cape Town, Cairo and Sydney, is hiring a Site Inspector for structures in Dubai. The inspector carries out inspections of structural works during construction to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, contract requirements, codes and quality standards, working under the direction of the Senior Site Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of structural works against approved drawings and specifications
• Inspect reinforced concrete works (foundations, pile caps, footings, retaining walls, columns, beams, slabs, staircases, suspended structures)
• Check reinforcement installation before concrete placement and witness concrete pours
• Monitor formwork, falsework and temporary works
• Inspect structural steel fabrication, erection, bolted and welded connections
• Verify materials against approved submittals and review contractor quality control records and testing documentation
• Witness field testing such as concrete slump tests, cube sampling and reinforcement inspections
• Identify defects and non-conforming work, report findings and track corrective actions
• Assist in preparing Site Observation Reports, Non-Conformance Reports, RFIs and snag lists
• Coordinate with Architectural, MEP and HSE teams and maintain daily site diaries
• Support handover inspections and assist the Senior Site Engineer

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience in structural site supervision
• Minimum 3 years of UAE/GCC experience on building construction projects
• Experience in data centre projects is advantageous; experience in an engineering consultancy is preferred
• Experience on commercial, residential, hospitality, healthcare, mixed-use or high-rise developments
• Professional membership is desirable but not essential

Required skills

• Good understanding of reinforced concrete, structural steel and foundation construction
• Familiarity with UAE Building Codes and structural standards
• Sound technical knowledge of structural construction and inspection processes
