SME Underwriter (Insurance)

About the role

The national insurance company – Daman is seeking an experienced SME Underwriter to join its Abu Dhabi team. You will be responsible for underwriting a range of small‑ and medium‑enterprise insurance products, working closely with sales and broker partners, and leveraging digital platforms to drive profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite Property, Casualty, Financial lines and other coverages for SME clients.
• Assess risk exposures, financial statements and business profiles to set appropriate pricing and terms.
• Collaborate with sales, distribution and broker channels to acquire and retain business.
• Utilise digital underwriting platforms, CRM systems and analytics tools to improve turnaround time and decision quality.
• Support product innovation, provide pricing inputs and enhance underwriting processes.
• Review renewals, endorsements and policy changes with focus on risk quality.
• Monitor portfolio performance, manage loss ratios and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards and audit requirements.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of SME underwriting experience with top insurers or Lloyd’s.
• Proven track record in both underwriting and sales‑facing roles.
• Graduate or postgraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, Insurance or related field; professional insurance qualifications preferred.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
