Software Engineer - App Stores

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Store team, which powers the Snap Store and Charmhub.io marketplaces. You will work remotely with a globally distributed group of engineers, building and scaling backend services that deliver software to millions of devices worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain clean web‑service APIs in Python (and optionally Golang) for CLI and web front‑ends.
• Implement new features from specification through production, ensuring high reliability at scale.
• Review code and technical designs contributed by peers.
• Collaborate with the team on architecture decisions and problem‑solving.
• Participate in occasional travel (2‑4 weeks per year) for internal and external events.

Required profile

• Professional experience building public‑facing APIs and web applications with Python.
• Strong bias toward shipping code and using automated tests to maintain velocity.
• Comfortable working in a remote, distributed environment.
• Ability to understand and work with both relational and non‑relational databases.
