Software Engineer - Digital Payments (Resilience)

About the role

An urgent requirement for a Software Engineer in the digital payments domain, working for banking clients in Abu Dhabi. The focus is on designing and implementing resilience patterns such as circuit breakers, failover, retry mechanisms, timeout handling and disaster recovery, and improving availability, fault tolerance, monitoring and alerting across critical payment applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement resilience patterns including retry mechanisms, circuit breakers, failover logic, timeout handling and graceful degradation.
• Develop enhancements to availability, recoverability and fault tolerance across critical payment platforms.
• Analyze production incidents and recurring failures and implement permanent fixes.
• Implement resilience controls for APIs, messaging platforms, databases and external integrations.
• Enhance monitoring, alerting, health checks and automated recovery; develop resilience and failover test scenarios.
• Collaborate with solution architects, infrastructure teams, production support and vendors, and support application modernization.
• Perform code reviews, document designs and procedures, and provide knowledge transfer.

Required profile

• Strong hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, microservices and resilience frameworks (Resilience4j/Hystrix).
• Experience in the banking and payment domain.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues under pressure and work independently while collaborating across teams.

Required skills

• Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, microservices, Resilience4j/Hystrix, REST APIs, Kafka/IBM MQ/AMQ, Oracle PL/SQL, Linux, CI/CD, Kubernetes/OpenShift and monitoring tools.
• Preferred certifications: Oracle Certified Professional Java Developer, RHCE, AWS/Azure developer certifications, ITIL Foundation, CKAD.
