Software Engineer – Satellite & RF Payloads (Emirati Talent)

About the role

EDGE Group is looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join its space division (FADA) in Abu Dhabi. You will design, develop, integrate and verify both onboard and ground software for satellites and RF payloads, ensuring reliable mission execution and system interoperability throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evaluate high‑level technical requirements and translate them into functional, performance and interface specifications.
• Design software architecture that satisfies the identified requirements.
• Develop, integrate and verify software for space and ground segments of satellite and SDR payload systems.
• Implement control, monitoring, data‑processing and interface functions across the system.
• Prepare technical documentation, software descriptions and test procedures.
• Participate in laboratory and system‑level testing, debugging and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate closely with firmware, digital hardware, payload and system engineering teams for end‑to‑end integration.

Required profile

• Graduates, PhD students or PhDs in engineering, physics, mathematics or computer science interested in the space sector.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally, including frequent trips abroad.
• Good command of English.
• Desirable: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronic Telecommunications Engineering or a related field.

Required skills

• Embedded microcontroller/DSP programming.
• Object‑oriented, real‑time programming in Windows and/or Linux environments.
• Proficiency in C and C++.
• Knowledge of network protocols.
• Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio and MPLAB.
• Experience with virtual machines, cross‑compilation, CMake and Makefiles.
